The Tour de Sore Buns is the Clubs annual kick-off day with multiple groups riding at different speeds and different lengths starting at the same time.

The Tour de Sore Buns 2024 is scheduled for this Saturday April 27. This is the club's kick-off ride for the year. We plan to have multiple groups riding at different speeds

Start location this year Freeland Sports Zone - parking lot on the Northeast side

Ride is scheduled to start at 9 AM

Unfortunately the projected weather shows 80% chance of rain at 9 AM. We plan to ride if it's not raining. Watch for further updates as the ride gets closer.

The plan will be to have multiple groups riding at different speeds.

Thor Brecht will lead a group riding 11-13 mph which will ride about 17 - 20 mi
Dave Hawn and I will lead a group riding 14-16mph will will ride 25-31 mi
Nevin Steinbrink will lead a group riding 17-19 mph which will also ride about 31 mi
Matt Ohl and Ken Kearns will lead a group riding 20-22 mph. which will likely asl ride about 31 mi
The planned route is to ride the Tittabassee/ Kochville trail and Kochville Rd over to the Bay/ Zil trail and then ride Hotchkiss Rd back to 8 mile/ Hospital Rd and back to the trail and Freeland Sports zone total distance 31 miles. The groups may ride slightly shorter and longer variations of this ride.

This is a group ride meaning that the intent is to stay together in groups, not leave riders behind. Groups will take a rest stop in the middle of the rides.

Helmets are required. If you ride a 'time trial' bike with aerobars, please do not ride in the aerobars while in a paceline. Clear and good access to brakes is essential for the safety of all riders.
