In 2009 the Fall Breakaway MS Ride welcomed 75 cyclists and volunteers and raised over $20,000! Plans are underway to make this year’s event a great day of fun and festivities in support of those living with multiple sclerosis, their families, and caregivers.
Route Length:
Mountain Bike Trails: 5 and 9 miles (ride all day as far as you like)
Road Ride: 12 and 24 mile options (ride all day as far as you like)
Route Description: : Island Lake Recreation Area is a 4,000-acre park in Livingston County that offers an "up north" experience without leaving southeast Michigan. We have chosen this site to host the Fall breakaway because of it’s spectacular scenery including the mixture of open brush land to mature hardwood forest, with some pockets of open meadows mixed in
Mountain Bike riders may choose from the 5 and 9 mile loops or combine them and continue to ride all day between 9 am and 3pm. For those of you who would prefer to ride on paved roads then come and check out our 12 and 24 mile routes that will take you through the scenic parks of Island Lake Recreation area and Kensington Metro Park. All routes begin and end at the Dodge Pavilion and this will also be the rest stop for the Mountain Bike Routes. A light breakfast and a BBQ lunch will be provided to all participants and volunteers.
Minimum Age Requirement: All riders must be at leas 12 years of age to participate.
Registration Fees:
*There is a minimum $250 fundraising pledge requirement per rider in addition to the registration fee.
*Registration fees are non-refundable and are non-transferable to another person. If for any reason you are unable to participate the registration fee will be considered a donation to the National MS Society, Michigan Chapter.
